I LOVE having my Netflix account. I started out with the $7.99 a month deal and got one DVD at a time (I can barely watch one at a time anyway) and the kids use the streaming through our Wii everyday to watch movies and shows. Then around the first of the year they changed the price to $9.99 which I was fine with. However, I just got an email that says this:
Dear Amy,
We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.
Your current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:
Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month
Your price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.
These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.
I'm not cool with this. We already pay a fair amount for cable each month and adding even more to it is getting aggravating. Oh, the price of entertainment. I wonder what I would have done when they didn't have electricity???
Looks like I'll be cancelling my Netflix account *Sigh*

Man, I just checked my email and I got the same message. This is just some lame excuse for them to basically charge double for the same services. I may cancel my service too.
