I love the Jacksonville Zoo and usually make a couple trips a year down there. For Earth Day they're having a promotion that may interest those who are either planning on going anyway or live nearby.
Join us from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to celebrate Earth Day at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ Party for the Planet! Guests can learn how to take care of our earth by visiting environmental and animal conservation booths. There will also be children’s activities, entertainment, prize drawings, and visits from Jazoo. The Jacksonville Zoo will also be giving drivers of hybrid cars special treatment with VIP front row parking in the Zoo’s general lot. Limited spaces are available, so front row parking for hybrid cars only is on a first come, first served basis.
During the event, don’t miss the Zoo horticulture department’s plant sale at the Zoo’s Main Camp to benefit plant and habitat conservation projects.
Special Admission Offer: On Saturday, April 14 only, bring in your electronic recycling or at least 5 pounds of recyclable paper and receive a coupon for $2 off on one General Zoo Admission ticket. Each member of your party may bring in their own recyclables to earn the $2 discount. Simply stop by the Green Team booth on your way to the Main Camp ticket booths to turn in your recycling and receive your coupon.
Acceptable items include:
- Paper for the Zoo’s Paper Retriever (at least 5 pounds per person)
This can include: Newspaper, magazines, junk mail, catalogs, shredded paper, school & office paper, folders, and glossy paper, but NOT cardboard or paperboard
- Batteries
- Cell phones
- Electronics (anything that plugs in or runs on electricity)
This can include: Digital cameras, DVD players, laptops, computers, CD players, etc.
Please remove any sensitive or personal information from your laptop or computer before turning it in. The Zoo cannot be held responsible for any lost content on a recycled item.
- Ink cartridges
Also, though you will not receive a discount for these items, bring in your 6-pack rings and monofilament lines (fishing line). The Zoo will teach you how to properly dispose of these environmentally hazardous items.
I went last year to the zoo and enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGreat deal on the 14th and hope many take advantage and enjoy the day and help the environment.
I love the Jacksonville Zoo! They offer good discounts on admission throughout the year. I hope they do the free admission for mom's on Mother's Day again this year.
